As the global focus on environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria intensifies, many SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises) like Triscan are at a crossroads. While large companies often have dedicated teams and resources to adapt to ESG standards, SMEs often have to take a different approach to adopting and implementing effective ESG practices.
With a relatively complex supply chain structure, ESG management is becoming pervasive. For this reason - and to ensure focus, progress and building competence in project management within the area - we have chosen to expand the organization to also include an actual ESG manager. At Triscan, we have thus, as we have previously reported, hired Marie Markman as ESG Manager in the spring of 2024.

Since then, we have worked alongside and cross-organisationally on many projects in the area. At the same time, to ensure the best possible conditions for ESG work and a solid anchoring throughout the organization, we have held information meetings where all employees have participated and had the opportunity to ask about the further process. In the short term, we will work on the following projects.
CO2e calculator
The development of a CO2e calculator enables us to provide CO2e data at the product level that meets the standards of the GHG Protocol. We are increasingly experiencing that our customers need CO2e data from Triscan to be able to prepare their sustainability accounts - and we want to contribute to this. At the same time, it is also a goal internally in Triscan to be able to use the CO2e calculator to look into our own business model and CO2e emissions.
Identification of sustainability topics
Whereas in 2024 we have held processes at management group, management and board level - and have identified relevant sustainability topics - we will focus on other employee groups in 2025. We find that the knowledge that will qualify our work with ESG comes from all layers of the company, and that we can only take ESG from being a compliance exercise to contributing to business development if we strategically work with this.
Development of packaging strategy
In addition, in the packaging area, we are in the process of investigating how we can ensure that by 2026 we will be able to optimize our packaging strategies even more than in previous years' work. This is both for the benefit of the environment and the employees who handle the packaging.
Preparation of diagrams and graphical representations
In general, the preparation of charts and other forms of graphical representations plays a crucial role in working with ESG. We find, both in our internal dialogues and development work, that it contributes positively to understanding and discussing complex issues - and that it makes it easier for us to discuss across departments.
