Through our participation as a climate forest sponsor, we contribute to the afforestation in Denmark, which among other things aims to reduce atmospheric CO2 and improve biodiversity.
The initiative is administered by Hedeselskabet - and forests are being erected in various places in Denmark with a focus on locally adapted choice of tree species.
In general, afforestation helps to:
- Ensure CO2 uptake when the forest grows
- Improve the quality of drinking water
- Increase biodiversity where forests are planted.
- Increase recreational opportunities in areas where forests are planted.
During 2022, around 50 hectares of forest have been planted in collaboration with various companies in Denmark.
Afforestation is a very well-documented effort that can remove CO2 from the atmosphere and thus make a real and tangible difference to the climate. As afforestation is not 100% effective from day one, it is crucial that early afforestation is initiated. Gradually, as the forest grows, its positive contribution in terms of CO2 uptake and biodiversity increases.
Hedeselskabet, which is strong in forestry and forest management, has for many years developed methods for calculating the forest's CO2 uptake. With the latest calculation models, Triscan's contribution corresponds to the fact that the planted trees during their lifetime will absorb Triscan's CO2 emissions for 2023.
