Fresh start to a new work life!

Tech news

Basically Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) means taking global and social responsibility e.g. by respecting human rights and being concerned about social life and working conditions, environment and climate.

At Triscan, we all try to live up to our social responsibility. One of the ways to do so is by acting as a business centre. And what is that?

A business centre can be set up by a private or public company in agreement with the job centre. The idea of business centres is a well-proven method to have unemployed, often vulnerable, people integrated into a real job. In a business centre the candidates are tested during a training period, where there is also focus on the candidate’s other challenges. The business centre puts an end to the previous practice, where candidates with other challenges than just being unemployed are now prepared for the labour market, before they go through a practical training programme in a company.

A conversation between the mentor and the candidate always takes  place in a calm and cosy environment

Service Coordinator at Triscan, Jørn Kim Jensen, acts as a mentor in the company’s business centre. He is responsible for the candidates and is in close contact – on a daily basis – with all of them. “At Triscan the candidates work on equal terms with the rest of the employees in the company. They are get  real jobs, and they experience what it is like being part of a team; what expectations and requirements you can be met with in a working place and what possibilities the company can offer.”

The individual candidates have widely different backgrounds; they might have physical, mental and/or social problems to deal with, and language difficulties - and they often need different working conditions such as reduced working hours, more  breaks and a slower pace. In these situations the need of each candidate is taken into consideration.

We have many success stories related to our work as a business centre”, says Jørn Kim Jensen. “Many of our candidates have been through a very positive and instructive process – several have even been so sorry to leave us that they still drop by now and then. Of course we are very happy for that as it shows us that we must be doing something right. But most importantly, they get a good and fresh start to a new – and hopefully – long working life”.

Often, Triscan employs the candidates to work permanently in the company. The experience with setting up a business centre must say to have borne fruit: it is beneficial to both the candidate and the company.
