Annual General Meeting of AUTIG – The Danish Automotive Industry Trade and Industry Association

Corp news

On Friday 25th of April, the general meeting of AUTIG was held, of which Triscan has been a member for more than 30 years. After the general assembly itself, the rest of the afternoon was spent on presentations on the latest political developments in the EU in relation to the aftermarket, by Ana Claudia Manuelito from FIGIEFA and presentations on the future of working life, by anthropologist Dennis Nørmark.

AUTIG is a mouthpiece for Danish trading and manufacturing companies in the automotive industry and was established in 1936. Director Mads Engberg is also president of the international sister organization, FIGIEFA - Fédération Internationale des Grossistes, Importateurs & Exportateurs en Fournitures Automobiles / International Federation of Automotive Distributors, which on a daily basis looks after AUTIG's interests and maintains a network in the Commission and the European Parliament.

The association's members are suppliers of car parts and equipment, products for maintenance and repair of cars, workshop equipment and services. As a trade association, AUTIG seeks influence where its members have business interests to develop or defend.

In practice, this means, among other things, that the association participates in the consultation process on new legislation in the automotive industry. This is done in cooperation with the Danish Road Traffic Authority, the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority, the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, the Danish Patent and Trademark Office or through the Ministry of Justice's Law Office. When needed, the association also turns to politicians - in the government or with the opposition.

Through memberships and influence in international organisations, AUTIG ensures that the interests of its members are taken care of in the EU, in UNECE (World Forum for Harmonization of Vehicle Regulations - WP29) and in the international standards organisations - wherever the future conditions for the industry are developed.

An ever-increasing part of Denmark's legislation is organized outside the country's borders, and AUTIG therefore ensures a Danish angle in CLEPA (The European Association of Automotive Suppliers) and the aforementioned FIGIEFA, which represent the interests of the manufacturer and the retail level, respectively.

AUTIG actively supports the ECAR alliance (The European Campaign for the Freedom of the Automotive Parts and Repair Market) and the work of the organization APRA (Automotive Parts Remanufacturers Association).

The Right-to-Connect campaign is coordinated in Denmark by AUTIG, which is one of the initiators of the campaign.

The association's network also includes the Autobranchens Fællesråd, where industry issues of common interest are promoted - here in collaboration with organizations that represent an important part of the customer base for AUTIG's members.

AUTIG is represented in The Council for Safe Traffic and a membership of SMVdanmark provides access to expertise and networking in one of the country's largest organisations. The latter membership entails influence in SMVdanmark's Auto Committee, where SMVdanmark's political work for the auto industry is coordinated.
